Polyrhythms 3rd Sunday Jazz Series
Workshop & Matinee
In the Redstone Room
Workshop: 3:00 pm, Matinee: 6:00 pm
Workshop Admission: $3 for students and $5 for adults.
Matinee Admission: $10 GA; $15 Reserved Seating
The workshops are designed to demonstrate how jazz is constructed from a playing as well as a listening standpoint. The object is to build on the existing jazz audience and cultivate a younger jazz appreciation base.
Some scholarships available for kids.
The matinee performance will present a series of straight ahead jazz music played by the finest practitioners we can attract. |

Group Guitar Lessons
We are happy to announce that Group Guitar Lessons are back at the RME! Courses are 6 weeks in length and feature both beginner & intermediate levels.
Begins Week of May 25 - Week of June 29
Group 1: Beginner- Monday OR Thursday 5:45 - 7pm
Group 2: Intermediate- Mon. OR Thurs. 7:30 - 8:45pm
(you choose which session you attend each week)
Instructor is Jake Shoulak
For ages 8 and up
Only $100 per 6-week course

"Language of Music" Theory Class
An Introduction to Western Music Theory

This 9-week class is geared towards aspiring musicians who would like to learn the basic principles of music theory, including how to sight read – skills that will help them more effectively communicate, interact and share compositions with other musicians and band members. Taught by area musician and instructor Eric Kranz.

Community Drum Circle

Join area percussionists for a Drum Circle of improvised rhythms on the last Saturday of each month - now in Mojos!
Some instruments provided, but folks are encouraged to "Bring Your Own Drum" or percussion instrument.

Rock Camp USA 2009 - Schedule Now Announced!
RME’s Rock Camp USA program features three 2-week sessions in the summer starting in July for young musicians ages 8-18. Participants rehearse their chosen songs, record them during dress rehearsal, and at the end of the session perform a concert in the Redstone Room! This program has been a huge success, and we're alredy looking foward to our 4rd year in 2009!

River Currents Tours - Click for Program Details
A cooperative art and music fun day for elementary students, co-produced by the RME and the Figge Art Museum. Students are given the invaluable lesson of experiencing both visual and musical art first hand. Literally thousands of area children are educated through this excellent civic program.

Winter Blues Program
The Winter Blues Program features vocal and instrumental workshops (guitar, bass, harmonica, keyboards & drums), as well as concentration on blues composition and improvisation. Sesions are open to any area musicians from 8-18 years old.
Lead by RME's own Ellis Kell, as well as many other talented bluesmen from the area, Winter Blues will consist of three half-day rehearsal and workshop sessions on December 29, 30, and Jan. 2 from 1-5pm at the RME.
The program will conclude with a special Saturday Blues Jam event in the Redstone Room on January 3rd beginning at noon. For a list of instructors and more information about the program, click here.
Winter Blues is co-sponsored by the RME, Brass Sail Recording, and the Mississippi Valley Blues Society.
