Sound Lab AE101 to begin in September!
The popular Sound Lab Audio Engineering 101 class at River Music Experience (RME) is scheduled to start up again on Monday, September 20.
During the 8-week course, students record and mix several multi-track recordings using the industry standard Pro Tools software, a variety of specialized audio hardware (Digidesign Mbox2 & Digi003, ART Gold, Yamaha 02R), and a closet of professional microphones (Shure, AKG, Sennheiser, Audix). The class focuses on hands-on experience - students produce their first finished CD after only 4 hours of class.
During AE101, students also get familiar with the current audio market - the new, inexpensive pro audio gear available to home-based recording artists and producers. The class covers many inexpensive home-recording solutions as well as DIY substitutes for the pricier parts of a home studio setup. The goal of AE101 is very practical - to provide the real-world skills you'll need to produce exceptional recordings and live shows.
Beginning September 20, AE 101 classes will meet Monday from 6-8 pm, with lab sessions on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 pm. The entire course runs for eight weeks, and tuition is $400 plus $40 for textbook.
Financial assistance may be available to those who need help with tuition fees. Registration forms are available for download here and may also be picked up at the RME admissions desk in Mojo’s. Visit the Sound Lab Homepage for more information.
