Winter BLues

The annual Winter Blues program features vocal and instrumental workshops (guitar, bass, harmonica, keyboards & drums), as well as concentration on blues composition and improvisation. Sessions are open to area musicians from 8-18 years old.

Sign for Winter Blues sessions for 2012! Workshops and rehearsals run Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Dec. 28, 2012 and conclude with a blues jam in the Redstone Room on Saturday, Dec. 29.

Winter Blues Registration Fee: $150.00

These sessions are open to musicians from 8-18 yrs. of age, and will be lead by RME’s Ellis Kell and Hal Reed of the Mississippi Valley Blues Society, and will feature other veteran blues musicians from the region as special guests for these workshop sessions. The focus will be on sharpening one’s individual skills and expressing oneself through the blues roots form - by learning how to improvise, and also through the composition of original blues lyrics and music.

Winter Blues will consist of three half of day sessions, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Sessions will be held from 1-5 pm on site at River Music Experience in the RME Performance Hall, the Redstone Room and on the RME Community Stage.

Winter Blues concludes with a special Blues Jam event in the Redstone Room on Saturday, Dec. 29th starting at 6 pm.
The cost is $150 per participant, with payment in full due with completed registration form by no later than December 15th. 2012. (We will make a determination at that time whether or not we have sufficient interest to proceed with this workshop series.)
